A peer-reviewed study from Colorado State University’s Department of Animal Sciences, published in Animals (MDPI), has validated the accuracy of Lumachain’s AI-based Animal Welfare platform, confirming that Computer Vision based Artificial Intelligence can reliably assess animal welfare in beef processing facilities.

Lumachain’s Animal Welfare module was used to evaluate the performance of AI-based 24/7 welfare monitoring, and demonstrated that AI systems can reliably identify key indicators such as effective stunning, slips and falls, and use of electric prods, as well as flagging Questionable cases for further review.

“Colorado State University’s published study is a significant milestone for Lumachain, demonstrating AI’s potential to transform animal welfare practices in ways that were not previously possible,” said Jamila Gordon, Founder & CEO of Lumachain.
